• We will begin today's 3.5 mile hike at the intersection of Chery and Idlewood and follow the murals through VCU and as far as Clay Street, back through the VCU campus to the start on Idlewood Ave. We will travel around the VCU campus on Cary & Broad Streets after enjoying a concentration of art work between Lombardy and Plum Streets.

Murals will be found adorning what would otherwise be undecorated building walls in some unusual places. You'll soon realize that the artists can turn the most unlikely locations into amazing art works. The diversity of the murals' subject matter, the use of color and the scale of the renderings will mystify and amaze you. Starting with "Spider Witch" and continuing with Blue Haired Woman", "Black and White Wolf" and "Civil War Drummer Boy" the talent on display around Richmond will leave you wondering, "What next?" Good To Know

• On street parking is available but may be restricted to two hours in many places. Minimize anxiety by planning to look for parking a couple of blocks from the MeetUp location in any direction and walk over. Car pooling would be good too!

• There is no requirement to possess some ability to negotiate tree roots, rustic trails, low hanging vines and branches, toxic plants, culverts, reptiles, damp trail conditions, stairs, spider webs, fallen trees, scorpions, birds of prey, migratory waterfowl, and river rocks today as this hike will be almost entirely on paved streets and sidewalks.

• This hike will begin at the posted time, not five or ten minutes later. If you need help on directions, click on the small map found in the Event Description under "How to find us" to display a larger interactive map. When you select "Directions" left side of screen) the best route from your location to the Meet Up rendezvous spot will be calculated for you.

• What to bring: Water bottle, clothing appropriate for the season, practical footwear, cap or bonnet, insect repellent, a snack, dry clothes, & band aids,

• Restroom availability is extremely limited in these urban surroundings.
