About this event

Church Hill Chillers Ghost Tour by Haunts of Richmond

Explore the haunted history of Church Hill, one of Richmond’s oldest and most storied neighborhoods with Haunts of Richmond. Known as the birthplace of the American Revolution, Church Hill’s centuries-old streets are steeped in tales of war, secrecy, and spirits that may have never moved on.

This guided walking ghost tour blends Richmond history with chilling folklore and reported paranormal encounters. Guests will hear the story of Elizabeth Van Lew, the infamous Civil War spymaster whose intelligence network shaped the outcome of the war and whose presence is still said to linger. The tour also explores the tragic romance between Edgar Allan Poe and Elmira Royster Shelton, a love story rooted in Church Hill and marked by loss. Additional accounts include reported hauntings tied to a former Civil War hospital and other historic locations where visitors and residents have experienced the unexplained.

Equal parts history and ghost story, the Church Hill Chillers Ghost Tour offers a mysterious and atmospheric look at why this neighborhood is considered one of the most haunted areas of Richmond, Virginia.
